Welcome to Leconfe Cloud (“Leconfe,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Leconfe Cloud platform, including all related websites, services, and applications (collectively, the “Service”).
By accessing or using Leconfe Cloud, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Overview
Leconfe Cloud is a hosted version of the open-source Leconfe platform. It allows users to create and manage academic conferences, including submissions, reviews, publications, and participant registrations.
You may use Leconfe Cloud through:
- The Free Plan (Community) hosted by Leconfe with shared infrastructure.
- The Managed Hosting Plan — a dedicated setup for institutions or organizations.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.
By registering, you represent that you have the authority to enter into this agreement on behalf of yourself or the organization you represent.
3. Accounts and Access
When you register, you must provide accurate and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
We may suspend or terminate your account if we believe your use violates these Terms or applicable laws.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Leconfe Cloud to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Upload or distribute unlawful, defamatory, or infringing content.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data.
- Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited messages.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service’s integrity or performance.
- Host, promote, or distribute content related to gambling, adult services, cryptocurrency schemes, or other activities that violate local laws or academic ethics.
- Use the Service for commercial marketing unrelated to academic or research events.
- Upload misleading or deceptive conference information intended to solicit payments or impersonate legitimate academic organizations.
- Engage in activities that could harm Leconfe’s reputation or disrupt other users’ use of the Service.
We reserve the right to remove or disable access to content that violates these Terms.
5. Data and Privacy
By using the Service, you acknowledge that Leconfe processes your information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Data you upload or manage remains your responsibility. You retain ownership of your content and grant Leconfe a limited license to host, process, and display it as needed to operate the Service.
If you use Leconfe Cloud on behalf of an institution, you are responsible for obtaining necessary consents and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
6. Service Availability
We aim to provide reliable uptime and performance, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Maintenance, upgrades, or unforeseen technical issues may result in temporary downtime.
Managed Hosting customers may have separate service-level terms.
7. Fees and Payment
The Community Plan is free to use.
Managed Hosting or other paid services are subject to separate pricing and billing terms, which will be communicated before activation.
8. Intellectual Property
Leconfe Cloud is built upon the open-source Leconfe project, licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).
Your use of the hosted service does not transfer any ownership rights in the platform, trademarks, or brand assets.
You retain ownership of the content, submissions, and conference materials you create within the platform.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that misuse the Service, including but not limited to hosting fake or fraudulent conferences, gambling promotions, or any content inconsistent with the academic or research purpose of Leconfe Cloud.
You may stop using the Service at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms,
- Engage in abusive behavior toward the Service or other users, or
- Cause harm or disruption to the platform’s operation.
Upon termination, your access will be revoked, and your data may be deleted after a reasonable retention period.
10. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind.
Leconfe disclaims all implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Leconfe shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or within the platform. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
