About PEI Pusat
The Entomological Society of Indonesia (PEI) was officially established on October 1, 1970, in Salatiga, Central Java, by 23 experts and practitioners in plant protection. Its foundation continued the legacy of earlier entomological organizations such as the Nederlands-Indische Entomologische Vereniging (NIEV, 1934) and the Entomologische Vereniging in Indonesie (EVI, 1949), which had ended in 1964. Since the ratification of its statutes in 1971, PEI has grown into a leading national organization that unites researchers, academics, practitioners, and enthusiasts in the field of entomology. Its official emblem was later adopted during the First Entomology Congress in Jakarta in 1979.
Today, PEI Pusat plays an active role in advancing entomological sciences in Indonesia through regular journal publications and by organizing annual scientific events, seminars, and conferences. With a strong academic network rooted in IPB University and beyond, PEI continues its mission to promote knowledge sharing, strengthen collaboration, and contribute to the development of agriculture, biodiversity, environment, and public health in Indonesia.
Why PEI Pusat Chose Leconfe for Its Conferences
Several reasons led PEI Pusat to choose Leconfe as their official platform for conferences and events. In the past, whenever they organized their annual events, the team relied on a simple static webpage as the main source of information, supported only by a single banner for event sharing. Paper submissions were handled through Google Forms, while the payment process remained highly manual, requiring participants to confirm their transfers via WhatsApp or email for verification.
Recognizing these limitations, PEI Pusat began searching for a comprehensive solution to streamline their workflows. After exploring various options and experiencing the demo of Leconfe, they were convinced by its features and usability, and ultimately decided to adopt Leconfe as their primary conference platform.
