Applies to: Leconfe 1.5.0-beta.3
Audience: Conference Managers and administrators
Short answer: Open the scheduled conference’s Website Setup and add Phone and Public Name to the required registration fields. The setting applies to the registration or profile form governed by that scheduled conference.
Make the Fields Required
- Sign in as a Conference Manager or administrator.
- Open the correct Scheduled Conference.
- Open Website.
- Select the Setup tab.
- Select the inner Setup section.
- Find Registration Required Fields.
- Select Phone.
- Select Public Name.
- Select Save.
What Is Public Name?
Public Name is the name Leconfe can display publicly instead of automatically combining the user’s given and family names. It is useful when a user needs initials, titles, a preferred professional name, or a culturally appropriate name format.
Example:
- Given Name: Aruna
- Family Name: Wijaya
- Public Name: Prof. Aruna Wijaya
What Changes After the Fields Become Required?
- New users must complete Phone and Public Name when the relevant registration form is displayed.
- Users editing an incomplete profile may be asked to supply the required values before continuing.
- Existing accounts are not automatically given values. A required setting does not backfill older user profiles.
- The setting does not validate whether a telephone number is genuine. Organizers should provide an expected format when needed.
Recommended Phone Instructions
Ask users to include the international country code so the value can be understood consistently.
Example: +62 812 3456 7890
Avoid requesting a phone number unless the conference has a clear operational reason to collect it. Explain its purpose in the privacy statement and restrict access to authorized staff.
How to Test the Setting
- Save the Website Setup.
- Open the public site in a private browser window.
- Start registration with a new test account.
- Leave Phone and Public Name blank.
- Confirm that Leconfe displays a required-field message and does not complete the form.
- Enter valid values and confirm that registration can be completed.
If the fields remain optional, confirm that the setting was saved in the same scheduled conference used for the test. Also check whether the form being tested is an installation-level account form or a scheduled-conference registration form, because their field requirements may be configured separately.
